About Us
For more than 20 years, Kataenoy Restaurant has been a family-run haven in Vientiane, bringing people together to enjoy fresh, honest, and flavorful Lao cuisine.
Kataenoy
Kataenoy Restaurant began as a small local kitchen, built on a simple belief: good food should make you feel at home. Today, we continue to prepare everything with the same care — using fresh ingredients, traditional recipes, and generous portions at fair prices. We’re proud that many of our customers have grown up eating here and continue to support our family through the years.
Where Our Name Comes From
Kataenoy began with my grandmother, who ran a small neighborhood kitchen serving simple, comforting Lao dishes. When my father took over, he continued her tradition of cooking with heart and treating every guest like family.
When I was born, he chose to rename the restaurant Kataenoy — a combination of my nickname Katae and the Lao word “noy,” meaning little.

Loved by Locals and Travelers.
Highly reccommend this place as the food is very local and delicious. They have their own BBQ outside on the street which they grill meats making them taste very good. Service is also fast and efficient, and the location is right by the street.
